Are you in the profession of flying out aircrafts from airports? Perhaps you’re now a seasoned pilot who can talk with ATC fluently in the ATC lingo. Do you remember the days when you were inexperienced as a pilot? You may have found some of your mates unwilling to talk much with ATC because of a communication gap.
When we meet doctors for some medical conditions, we may feel intimidated by their medical jargons and many tests. However, we put trust in them so that we can have better health and supply relevant information to them. In the same manner an inexperienced pilot should feel confident about his or her abilities and at the same time he or she should have trust in ATC.
You cannot be over-dependent on your partner in your family life as that may cause some situations when you fail to act in his or her absence. In like manner a pilot shouldn’t think that ATC is supervising each and everything. Moreover, you may sometimes be asked to do something that you’ve never thought of doing. With good understanding you can come out of these embarrassing situations.
You may feel panicky at the idea of going into the ATC you’re involved with. Isn’t it a good idea to have some interaction with the people there? So, next time you may just go in and have some chat before you fly out of the airport.
In our school and college life we read more subjects than it may seem necessary. You never use the rules of chemistry or physics consciously in your practical life. Still being familiar with the basics helps. The same way being familiar with ATC activities can help a pilot fly with enjoyment.
Being friendly with the person with whom you’ll be working is never a bad idea. That’s why a pilot can dash into ATC and meet the people there. Later when you communicate with ATC from your cockpit, you may recognize the rugged voice of the friendly controller you have met at ATC.
In fact, the gap between the expectations from ATC and knowledge of inexperienced pilots or students often put both the parties into embarrassing situations. The pilots may think that ATC has asked too much information.
You know it very well that misunderstanding can only be removed by being open to each other. That’s why when there’s a gap between ATC and a pilot, the situation may demand more information. This may be quite embarrassing for both the parties. Eventually it’s better to respect each other’s ways of work.
